The black woodpecker is one of the attractions of the park. Nests in early spring - the family moves out of the nest during the second week of June. Both Mr and Mrs brood and feed the chicks. The official symbol animal of Pyhä-Häkki.
Palikärki on Pyhä-Häkin näkyvä ja kuuluva tunnuseläin. Se pesii aikaisen keväällä, poikaset lähtevät pesästä kesäkuun toisella viikolla. Molemmat vanhemmat osallistuvat hautomiseen ja ruokintaan.
